Mandela Effect, a companion to Gonjasufi's Callus, is much more than a collection of remixes!
The term "Mandela Effect" refers to the phenomenon of false collective memories, or incorrect facts, which are socially reinforced (especially via social media and networks) and thus develop over time as alternative (erroneous) facts that are overshadowed.
In this sense, this collection of pieces offers an alternative vision of Callus... rather than just remodelled versions. This album even seems to question how we perceived and what we retained from Callus.
To do this, Gonjasufi (aka Sumach Ecks) has surrounded himself with several renowned collaborators: Daddy G (Massive Attack), Shabazz Palaces, Tony Allen, Anna Wise, King Britt and many others.
In addition to this Callus from the other side of the mirror, Gonjasufi also delivers a version of Beth Gibbons' "Show", explicitly demonstrating her penchant for a dark and claustrophobic vision of trip-hop.
