Harmonic freedom!
Released in 1966 on Blue Note, Complete Communion results of Don Cherry's first recorded sessions as a leader, after brilliant sideman contributions with Ornette Coleman and Sonny Rollins. It's one of the jazz landmark records of the era.
The album consists of two long suites of interlocking Cherry compositions, which are played with telepathic precision and explosive energy by a great quartet having Gato Barbieri on tenor saxophone, bassist Henry Grimes, and Cherry's long-term collaborator Ed Blackwell on drums.
Complete Communion was remastered and reissued as part of the Blue Note 75th Anniversary vinyl reissues.
