Omega – Immanuel Wilkins

Omega (2021) is the first album by composer and alto saxophonist Immanuel Wilkins for Blue Note. His confident and eloquent approach to the free expression of jazz - in the manner of free thinkers such as Monk and Coltrane - is tinged with gospel, blues and post-bop influences, while remaining stylistically coherent.

Omega was produced by Jason Moran and brings together an ensemble both innovative and talented; pianist Micah Thomas, bassist Daryl Johns and drummer Kweku Sumbry round out the excellent quartet led by Wilkins.

Loaded with a strong commitment to actual social and political tensions, Omega is a brilliant album in every sense of the word!
