The release of the album R.I.P. confirms Actress (aka Darren Cunningham) reputation as one of the most interesting projects of the underground electronic scene. Its original and intuitive understanding of textures and rhythm puts it on a parallel track with the scene's innovators such as Basic Channel, Autechre or, more recently, Oneohtrix Point Never.

R.I.P., is an electronic album of avant-garde where Actress plays the struggles between good and evil, between life and death, between joy and distress. Hence this dynamic between vaporous moods and incisive rhythms, between limpid melodies and surreal constructions, which are not the mere results of a sluggish agglomeration but indeed, the conscious figuration of a contradiction. Away from the dancefloor, R.I.P. heads into deep space.
