Round Again – Redman, Mehldau, McBride, Blade

The first album, MoodSwing (1994), recorded by the quartet then led by renowned saxophonist Joshua Redman, broke the mold of jazz recordings in the 1990s, creating a sound that went beyond cerebral arrangements and offered an emotional and expressive contemporary jazz.

The super quartet, Joshua Redman (saxophone), Brad Mehldau (piano), Christian McBride (bass) and Brian Blade (drums), reunite 26 years later for Round Again (2020 - Nonesuch).

The album, which features superb original compositions including three by Redman, two by Mehldau and one each for McBride and Blade, is a work of sophisticated musicality and impeccable execution while remaining emotionally charged.
