Source (Concord Jazz 2020) is the first studio album for saxophonist and composer Nubya Garcia; one of the most inspired bandleaders in London's vibrant jazz scene.
Produced by Garcia herself in collaboration with renowned producer Kwes (Bobby Womack, Solange, Nerija), she is joined on Source by the incredibly talented Joe Armon-Jones on keyboards, Daniel Casimir on bass and Sam Jones on drums.
Garcia's steamy dub-tinged saxophone, blending reggae, jazz and a myriad of sounds, Joe-Amon Jones' intuitive solos and Casimir and Jones' grooves combine seamlessly for a cohesive album of modern multi-dimensional jazz music, and one that remains a deeply personal work for Garcia.
Contributions from Cassie Kinoshi, Sheila Maurice-Grey (Ms. Maurice), Richie Seivwright, Akenya, as well as the remarkable collaboration of Colombian vocal and percussion group La Perla, enrich an already generous and luminous album.
