Singer, guitarist, songwriter and producer, Curtis Mayfield is truly one of the greats; a pioneer in socially aware R&B and funk. He reached a certain high with the soundtrack of Gordon Parks' film, Super Fly, a classic of the genre blaxploitation released in 1972.

Superfly was one of the first album among concept albums in soul music. In 2003, the album was named the 69th best album of all time by Rolling Stone magazine.
