The Avant-Garde - John Coltrane and Don Cherry

John Coltrane and Don Cherry’s, The Avant-Garde Mono Edition, originally released in 1966 on Atlantic and reissued in mono as part of a box set - John Coltrane: The Atlantic Years (Rhino 2016) - of five Coltrane albums originally released on Atlantic is now available as a single album.

On The Avant-Garde, Coltrane and Cherry are joined by Ed Blackwell on drums and Charlie Haden on bass on Cherryco and The Blessing, and Percy Heath on bass on the album's other three selections.
